What Will Your Ballot Say?

Shall Big River Ambulance District impose a sales tax of an additional one-half (1/2) percent for the purpose of providing revenues for the operation of the Big River Ambulance District and the total property tax levy on properties in the Big River Ambulance District shall be reduced annually by an amount which reduces property tax revenues by an amount equal to fifty percent of the previous year's revenue collected from this sales tax?

What Does Proposition EMS Do?

If passed, Proposition EMS will reduce the property tax for district residents and split the financial burden of funding Big River Ambulance District between residents and non-residents by pulling the required funds from sales tax. 

 

This alternative funding source will also provide:

 

  • Maintain the latest emergency medical equipment

  • Provide long-term financial stability for the district 

No sales tax applies to common necessities, such as:

 

  • Gasoline / Diesel Fuel

  • Qualifying Grocery Purchases

  • Prescription Medications and Various Medical Equipment

  • Many Agricultural Products

How much will my property tax be reduced?  

How much money residents will save on their property taxes is determined by the assessed value of their home. If Proposition EMS passes, resident property taxes can drop to the approximate values listed in the table below.
